Sunshine!

We have had a horrible spring/summer and it can be summarized by one word and one word only....RAIN!

Sunshine finally arrived and the kids were anxious to play outside so off we went...hopefully there are many more days like this to come this summer!

It's Official!

We have our first thumb-sucker...none of the other children have done this...still not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

Comments welcome...

Sydney runs the mile!

As part of the Field Day activities held at the end of the school year, children can participate in the mile run around the lower field at the school. Sydney ran last year and wanted to run again this year.

So... in the weeks leading up to the grand event, Laura could be found running around the block with some of the girls in the morning before school in an effort to really improve their conditioning! :)

Race day came and we took the whole family over to the school to watch her run...she did such a good job and she finished her mile run in 9 minutes 3 seconds.

The cool thing is that all of the children that are not running gather around the fence to cheer the runners on...it was very loud and lots of enegry in the crowd...just a really neat experience.

Dance Recital 2008

The girls completed their first year of dance and they seemed to really enjoy themselves...they attended a dance studio that is owned by a member of our church and she had the best deal...

"The Ultimate Family Plan"

We could register as many children as we wanted to, in as many classes as we wanted for a monthly fee. We made sure to verify that the deal would apply to our family since we had 4 girls that were interested in taking some dance classes. We were assured that they wouldn't discriminate against us because of the size of our family and so the odyssey began!

What I didn't realize when I signed them up in the fall is that with multiple dance classes comes multiple costumes for the year-end recital not to mention the shoes purchased along the way!

Cost breakdown:

11 costumes @ $xx.xx

4 leotards @ $xx.xx

3 pairs of ballet shoes @ $xx.xx

4 pairs of tap shoes @ $xx.xx

4 pairs of jazz shoes @ $xx.xx

2 pairs of white tennis shoes @ $xx.xx

4 pairs of nude color tights @ $xx.xx

4 bouquets of flowers @ $xx.xx

Total cost...priceless!

Sydney is the "Author" of the day...

Sydney was selected to read a portion of her short story during her school assembly. The visiting author has written a number of children's books (Ivy and Bean) and she was visiting the school to promote her new book.
Sydney did an amazing job and didn't seem nervous at all....way to go Sydney!
